MALALCAHUELLO, ARAUCANIA.

 

Highlights of the itinerary:

3 days of mountain biking

3,500 meters of accumulated elevation gain

170 km total route

Views of the Lonquimay, Tolhuaca, Llaima, and Navidad volcanoes.

Accommodation at Posada del Rio Lodge.

 

Day 1: Arrival in Malalcahuello

Reception at Posada del Rio Lodge, Malalcahuello.

Welcome dinner and briefing on the routes to be explored.

 

Day 2: China Muerta Mountain Bike.

Breakfast at Posada del Rio Lodge.

Transfer by vehicle to the starting point of “Cuesta la Fusta”.

Route begins at Cuesta La Fusta, descending to Galletue, then turning off towards China Muerta National Reserve to begin the circuit. Total distance: 70 km. With 750 m of accumulated elevation gain.

Picnic lunch.

Return to the lodge.

Dinner.

 

Day 3: Laguna Blanca – Nalcas – Malalcahuello.

Distance: 67 km, Accumulated elevation gain: 2,200 m

Breakfast at Posada del Rio.

Transfer to Rio Blanco (25 min). Start our MTB ride towards Laguna Blanca at the foot of the Tolhuaca Volcano (Km 7; 1,450m).

After great views of Laguna Blanca we continue the ascent to the mountain pass between the Lonquimay and Tolhuaca Volcanoes (km 14; 1,700m).

Begin the descent with views of the lava fields from the 1988 Lonquimay eruption, a 20km downhill ride, the last 10km along an unforgettable trail.

At km 35, we will take a break fort short rest and food.

From here, we begin the 20km climb with 900m of elevation gain to the Navidad Crater (pass at 1,880m altitude) to start the descent to our lodge.

Dinner.

 

Day 4: Alto Centinela (Sierra Nevada).

Breakfast. 25 km circuit with an 800m elevation gain. The trail ascends to the Sierra Nevada volcano.

Lunch at 2:00 PM.

Rest and dinner in the afternoon.

 

Day 5:

Option 1: End of services. Transfer to Temuco Airport.

 

Option 2: Continue your biking trip towards south.
